Music

music. ““My music is about connection, bridging time, space, possibilities, and telling a story.”

Echoes from Our Digital World, a journey through a series of performances where music becomes the thread connecting people across time and space. From near to far, each collaboration explores the possibilities of creating together, whether in the same room or across the globe. The progression reflects how music ties us together, no matter the distance, creating moments of shared expression and discovery.

Cohere Touch — presented and performed by the American Composers Orchestra at The New School — is the second work in a series of decentralized, simultaneous telematic performances exploring how we’re connected across distance. “Touch” refers to the way performers in one location can sense and influence other networked locations through movement and sound, physically and sonically shaping a shared canvas.

Alongside the music, the Cohere Touch system is a custom-built augmented reality environment that invites both performers and audience members to create music together. Their actions ripple through their own space and across other connected venues, blending multiple locations into one collaborative performance.

BENDING (Practice) Before I recorded this piece I was feeling a little stuck but I wanted to make something that day so I dug through one of my music notebooks for inspiration. I found a sketch. It was a short melody with some chords about grounding, remaining centered, and bending as things push you.

WHISTLER My grandfather taught me to whistle when I was a young kid. We used to drive around in the car listening to music and whistling along with it, it didn’t matter what the song was. This piece is about those times.

FLIGHT "Flight" for me is like jumping off a cliff and trying to grab on to a bunch of notes before the whole landscape changes. I want people to feel lifts and drops and air speed, takeoffs and landings. It's a piece that's really about being in the sky.

AIR I recorded this piece on one of the hottest days of the year. The air was stagnant, it was hard to breathe. I wanted to make my instrument sound like the wind.
